Junkfeathers’ roots are thick in the rural Ozark mountains, where his identity as an outsider and the rugged natural beauty of Arkansas shaped his music as much as his persona. The name of his project, salvaged from the chopping room floor of a garage band brainstorm, seemed a fitting moniker, if not the least for its parallel origin story to the artist himself.

Creator Jonathan embraces his status as foreigner in a familiar land, using it as inspiration and impetus to stretch boundaries and push the creative limits of music past genre or style. Junkfeathers is more than a solo project - it is a platform for collaboration and an utter disregard for convention. His sound is defined by the artists that contribute to his project and his serious dedication to fun and whimsy; he also finds his muse in responsible and sustainable living and his 13 year old daughter, whom he hopes alongside anyone harboring a spark of desire will take inspiration from his creative pursuit.

Junkfeathers features an eclectic vocal and instrumental range - dreamy, soulful, often surreal. His first album, Plumology, was released in August of 2018, and lauded for having “built an ornate bridge between classical and electronic musical execution.” Surrounding some colorful classic guitar play is a bright and layered synthetic sound that provides a sometimes haunting, often grounded, always personal note to his unique discology.
